SH - HT - Outlook - Making Outlook The Default Calendar for .ics File Event Add

Description: This guide explains how to make Outlook the default calendar for adding .ics files (events).
Prerequisites: Only works on native Outlook Applications.
Procedure:
Make ICS files open in Outlook by default:
Windows:
- Right-click the ICS file.
- Select Open With > Choose Another App.
- Select Outlook and check Always use this app to open .ics files
- Click OK
Mac:
- Find an ICS file on your Mac. If you don’t have one, you can download a sample ICS file or use one from an email.
- Right-click (or Control + click) the ICS file.
- Select Get Info from the context menu.
- In the Get Info window, look for the section labeled Open With.
- Click the dropdown menu and select Microsoft Outlook.
- If Outlook isn’t listed, click Other..., navigate to the Applications folder, and select Microsoft Outlook.
- After selecting Outlook, click the Change All... button below the dropdown.
- A confirmation box will appear. Click Continue to confirm.
Test the Default Setting
- Double-click any ICS file to ensure it opens automatically in Microsoft Outlook.
